The Friends of The John Frost School are parents, teachers and friends who help with fundraising as part of the school community. The PTFA is a registered charity and part of the PTA UK network.
Over the years we have purchased many items and the group has organised the school prom annually since 2005. We have contributed towards school trips to reduce the cost for parents. We have provided equipment for the technology department and team kits for PE, books for English and Science, dictionaries for Geography, theatre make up and masks for Drama, music sheets for Music and folders for Art. We recently supported the poppy art work for Remembrance Day
In order to carry on supporting the school the PTFA would welcome new members. Please contact us if you feel you can help.
The Year 11 prom in June was organised by the Friends of the School. It was a wonderful evening complete with a red carpet, limousines, a DJ and a photo booth. We work closely with the school prom committee to ensure that year 11 students have the best night of their life. All of the photos of the event can be found on our facebook page.
This term we have also supported the Christmas concert and Remembrance day poppy art work and bought books and workbooks for the students.Thank you to everyone who bought refreshments or a raffle ticket this year. This fundraising has meant that we have once again been able to buy books for the school including revision books for business studies and science. We also support Welsh Bacc by attending events and helping out with funding.
For the first time we have been supermarket bag packing with the Headteacher and Mr Gregory with great support from the whole community. Look out for us again in the new year! Earlier in 2017, the Friends of the John Frost School held our first Quiz Night. It was a fantastic evening with Welsh themed questions, prizes, entertainment and food which we hope will be an annual event with parents, teachers, colleagues from the local primary school, family and friends taking part in a fantastic community evening.
The PTFA usually meet on the second Thursday of the month in term time, at the school 6pm until 7:30pm. Dates for the 17/18 academic year are as follows:
14th September (7pm)
The PTFA work closely with the school through the staff representative, Mr Gregory. Any requests are then discussed with the senior leadership team of the school.
In order to carry on supporting the school, the PTFA would really welcome new members. Whether you can come to meetings or help at our events or with fundraising, contact us on email or our social media if you can help.
We are also registered with Easy Fundraising so you can support us without spending any money, find out more here.
